Experience
I'm versed in a wide range of math concepts. As a tutor, I help middle school and high school students get past the confusion of logical abstractions. I can ultimately let them take ownership of these. I believe many of the things taught in math class seem removed from reality and are not framed properly. My goal when tutoring is for the student to gain confidence in their intellectual ability and become comfortable with abstract systems. The aim is for this to translate into success as part of a developing independent learning process. Anyone with a curious mind can practice, get beyond the complexity of mathematical concepts, and appreciate their elegance. In 2007, I graduated MIT where I learned much about mathematics and earned my Bachelor of Science in the subject. I would immerse myself in calculus, linear algebra, analysis, probability, and group theory. As a software developer for the next 7 years, I'd help people manage their financial assets for retirement. I've taught game theory for the Center for Talented Youth over the past year; I also served as an academic mentor in the Breakthrough Greater Boston volunteer program. Currently living in Cambridge, I enjoy puzzles, reading, and playing guitar in my spare time.
