Eli R.
Private tutor in Cambridge, MA
Education
B.A. in Computer Science with High Honors from Oberlin College, 2015.
Experience
Currently I'm a software developer at a startup incubator in Kendall Square, planning on going to grad school to become a high-school math/CS teacher next year. I really like teaching, and while my job is fantastic there's not so much of it, so I thought I'd go on here. I have 2-3 years of experience tutoring in college, including working as a TA for Calculus, Astronomy, Computer Architecture, and two math-heavy CS classes (Algorithms and Theory of Computation). I've had two summer jobs teaching programming to 13-18 year-olds and tutored a 9th-grader in algebra for a semester.

Hobbies
I was also a Creative Writing major. I feel strongly that everyone can be good at math, science and programming, but understand that it can be very intimidating. I was a math-avoider in high scool before I was converted in college. The intellectual structures of science & math have done a lot for me, and I want to pass that on. I also sympathize with the need to just get your homework done. I love to get inside my tutee's understanding and help them ask questions. Outside of all this, I like Sufjan Stevens, running along Memorial Drive, and mango fried rice. I have an nascent blog at reallyeli.com.
