Kailah C.
Private tutor in Cambridge, MA
Education
I graduated summa cum laude from Tufts University with a BA in Community Health and Women's Studies. I am a current Master's Candidate in Educational Studies at Tufts University with a GPA of 3.94.
Experience
In the spring of 2015 I served as a Teaching Assistant for an upper-level seminar at Tufts University. My duties included developing the syllabus and lesson plans, teaching classes, and conducting office hours. In my role as teaching assistant I worked closely with the undergraduate students to develop and complete their own final project. I also served as a one-week substitute teacher for my advisor in a graduate level course. I bring infectious joy, excitement, and enthusiasm for learning to my students. I have experience working with diverse students at multiple points in the learning process. I am an active listener and believe in a student centered and guided approach. I am trained in motivational interviewing, and bring these techniques to my teaching. I ask questions to support students in finding their own answers. I have academic training in multiple pedagogies and am flexible in my teaching style in order to accommodate individual students’ needs. I excel at assisting students with writing (narrative, research, personal statements), organization, and time management.
