Private tutor in Cambridge, MA
Johns Hopkins University - BS, Applied Math
I attend Johns Hopkins University, where I am currently in the process of receiving a degree in applied mathematics and statistics. Since I was a student in high school, I have been tutoring my peers who have needed help with their math work. I have further leadership experience as a teacher at a summer music camp, a writing workshop leader, and as an employee for a private mathematics tutoring company. When teaching, I try to use many different ways to approach a problem so that the information is presented in a simple manner. Rather than drill the students so that they commit the information to memory, I strive to help them understand the concepts behind how they reached their conclusion.I am of the opinion that a well-balanced education is essential to success. While I have experience in music and art, I am most passionate about mathematics because I can find a way to relate it to any subject. Everything covered in math is relevant, so you must look at the material covered in past lessons and see how it can be applied in present topics. If this is correctly implemented, the skills one develops in mathematics will help him or her succeed in other areas. My goal is to help students become more confident with their math, so they can succeed in all of their future endeavors.
