David L.
Private tutor in Cambridge, MA
Education
Graduated from Brandeis University Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Biology.
Experience
In my junior and senior years at Brandeis I worked as a Supplemental Instruction leader for General Chemistry, a position that entailed leading weekly study sessions where I helped students work through challenging chemistry concepts. I think that my efforts in that regard are representative of my philosophy as a tutor: my main objective is to guide students toward problem-solving strategies that are tailored to their unique thought processes. As a result, students can tackle seemingly daunting subjects and problems with greater confidence and well-developed strategies. As for my credentials: I have experience as a pre-med who completed all his pre-requisites and is currently in the thick of the application process. I earned A's in almost all the life sciences classes I took as an undergrad (Biology, Organic Chemistry, Evolution, Developmental Neurobiology, Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy, Evolution, and all requisite labs where applicable). Moreover, I scored above the 95th percentile on my MCAT. But, my science acumen aside, I am also familiar with what it takes to write a polished, well-argued essay given that I have earned A's in all writing-intensive classes and spent countless hours honing my personal statement for medical school. And on that note, I am available to offer advice to those interested in applying in 2015-16.
