I am passionate about the German language and people, having graduated with honors in the subject from Skidmore College, where I received double bachelor's degrees in German and International Affairs. I began studying German as a middle school student, and I was fortunate to study in Germany during high school and for several months when I was in college. It is a difficult language to learn, and I believe the whole thing clicked for me when I was visiting the country as a college student. My goal is to facilitate that occurrence in my students.I have tutored German at all academic levels, as well as Government; and I also enjoy helping students with their writing and English language skills. Writing is difficult for some people, but I realize how important it is to the total academic experience. Lots of practice, I believe, is the way to becoming a better writer. I like giving students a way to organize what they are thinking into clear prose that communicates their ideas easily and clearly.In my spare time, I love to swim, having been a competitive swimmer from my elementary school years through college. I also like to hike or just take long walks in the outdoors.
