I have a bachelor's degree from Williams College in Literature and Russian Language. I am employed in Boston at an international school where I work with students for whom English is a second language.I have tutored students individually, online, and in the classroom. I have been a peer tutor in college for Russian Grammar and have taught AP English to local high school students, providing feedback for their writing. I also have worked at a Brooklyn after-school program with homeless children and have taught Russian at Upward Bound schools in the summer. I can tutor several subjects but I particularly favor helping students in English, Literature, and preparation for the SAT Verbal.As a tutor, I place an emphasis on writing skills because I see them as critical to success in everything from preparing for tests and getting into college to finding work that is satisfying. I especially enjoy sharing the knowledge of academic writing I gained from experience publishing papers and giving presentations at academic conferences. I go beyond punctuation and grammar to help enhance students' analytical abilities, the quality of their arguments, and their transitions from one idea to another.In my leisure time, I run, travel, and play viola and violin.
